I spent a lot of last week working through the core rulebook. The first 100 pages are pretty dense setting information. You then get to build your house. There are four options, and they are your own choice, no dice rolling required.
The choices are nascent house, house minor, house major, and great house. It appeared, at first, that nascent house would be a good option. It makes your character more significant, if the house they are working for is smaller. I am thinking Big Fish, Small Pool.
I was wrong in this. Nascent houses do not have enemies by default, and all the options that stem from your house size are more limited, or non-existent for the nascent house.
My first choice has shut me out of an interesting avenue for story prompts.
I think I am gong to have to go back and rebuild my house!
