Wicked Ones Week

Yesterday I started research for a set of solo rules for Wicked Ones. You may not know this game. It is released today, or possibly tomorrow, depending on where you are in the world. It is best described as the PC game Dungeon Keeper meets Blades in the Dark. Putting it really bluntly, you swap out Heists for Raids, and you are trying to avoid Adventurers from invading your dungeon and killing you off.

I am a big fan of the Blades in the Dark system and although I am still in the reading the rules stage, this looks to be a great addition to the Blades stable.

These rules are going to be somewhat different to my existing Blades solo rules. The setting, your dungeon and its environs, in Wicked Ones is so different that the game cubes style icon solution doesn’t seem to fit what I am reading.

The more specific things get the more I can tailor what I am seeing to what I am writing.

In the next few days I hope to finish my read through, make a monster character and give the game a go.

The more I read, the more I want to get stuck in. It just feels like it is going to be great fun. I don’t want to go too darkly evil. I am after a tone of cackling comic evil.

In my mind anything I build with a kobold overlord is not going to be too serious.

In Must Be Christmas

I have got my Hero System PDFs out and a blank character sheet. I am creating Vibro, a soundwave manipulating mutant. He uses Teleport for movement, has a Barrier generated as kind of compressed shockwave, a sonic Energy Blast and Sonar.

At the moment I am doing the fun bit of spending points and trying to make the character affordable. But then, that is half the fun of Champions/Hero System character creation.
